At Worlds 2022, Faker once again advanced to the Semifinals of the biggest tournament on the planet in League of Legends. This season was predicted to be full of challenges for him and his teammates at T1. Nevertheless, Faker still convincingly led Group A with a dominating score of 5-1. Not only that, T1 also crushed their long-time rival RNG from LPL with a score of 3-0 to assert their strength and advance to the Semifinals of Worlds 2022.

Becoming a professional League of Legends player in 2013, Faker won his first World Championship in his debut year. But that was just the beginning of a legendary journey for the Korean gamer born in 1996. Since then, Faker has participated in 7 of the total World Championships held. Not only that, the minimum achievement of the “Immortal Demon King” at this fierce tournament has always been the Semifinals. In addition, Faker has lifted the most prestigious cup of League of Legends three times – an unprecedented achievement that any gamer would dream of.
Many statistics have shown that the average career length of a professional League of Legends player only lasts about 5-6 years. Within that time, the peak performance period is even shorter. Sometimes that period can be as brief as a single season or a single match. Yet, Faker has managed to extend that period to a full 10 years. Even though the “Demon King” is now 26 years old and cannot remain at the top of the mid-lane forever, he still ranks among the top players in this role.

At the peak of his career, Faker was the king of League of Legends as his stats and performances were truly terrifying. In the 2013 World Championship, Faker’s win rate reached 83.3%, with 15 wins and 3 losses. Meanwhile, his average KDA was 4.4/2.2/6 (80 kills, 39 deaths, and 108 assists). In the 2015 World Championship, Faker also achieved similar astounding statistics.

The statistics above certainly do not lie, and Faker’s performances only affirm this. To date, Faker has played over 100 matches in this tournament and has a win rate of 72%. Additionally, the “Chairman” continues to set a new record by achieving 350 kills in this tournament and holds the record for the most kills in the history of the World Championships.

With all that he has achieved, Faker deserves to be the greatest player of League of Legends, and the records he leaves behind are deemed by many to be unbreakable. In fact, his records may continue to be extended in many upcoming seasons.
Therefore, even though League of Legends may see many new talents and even emerging legends in the future, the name Faker will undoubtedly live on for those who have watched him play. It is akin to the nickname that League of Legends fans have given him, “The Immortal Demon King.”
