At the start of the 2023 season, one of the legends of the LCS – Bjergsen returned to professional play. He chose to join the team 100 Thieves (100T) alongside his friend Doublelift. However, in the Spring 2023 LCS qualifiers, 100T, led by the “Western Faker,” suffered two consecutive losses and lost the chance to compete for the title.

Perhaps for this reason, on April 8, Bjergsen announced his retirement on social media. In a video lasting over 8 minutes, Bjergsen shared that the reason for this decision was that he no longer had the desire to reach the top. Instead, he wanted to spend more time caring for his family.
“There was a time when I sacrificed everything from hobbies, family, friends… to focus on playing League of Legends. However, I can’t do that at this moment. I feel that I no longer have the motivation to compete and reach the top. So, the decision to stop is the right one” – Bjergsen shared.

Rising to prominence in 2013 with the Copenhagen Wolves, Bjergsen was then considered a top player in the West. Born in 1996 and famous for playing Zed, Bjergsen was often compared to Faker at that time. There was a time when fans eagerly anticipated the matchup between Faker and his “Western” counterpart.

However, after many years of competition, the comparison between Faker and Bjergsen has proven to be quite uneven. While Faker continues to perform at the highest level, Bjergsen has struggled in recent years. Perhaps Bjergsen himself understands that he can no longer compete at the highest level, which led to his decision to retire as mentioned above.
