The final of LCK Spring 2023 has passed, but discussions surrounding the match will surely continue to be a hot topic in the League of Legends community for a long time. Both teams delivered surprising performances compared to their usual selves throughout the LCK Spring journey. However, for T1, it took a negative turn.

Immediately after the match, Coach Bengi openly accepted full responsibility for T1’s defeat. Specifically, Coach Bengi shared: “In today’s match, our players worked hard and played well, but I think I prepared worse than the opponent. That is the biggest issue. The important thing is that my opponent prepared better, and the problem is that I couldn’t find a way to deal with it. My opponent improved based on their previous loss to us. I think it’s important to play calmly. Many fans believed that T1 would be champions. I apologize for disappointing you once again. MSI will be ready in a month, and I will try to present a different image as much as possible at that time.”

Clearly, in the recent match, T1 failed to find a way to counter Gen.G’s Gragas – Ahri combo in the first two games. Afterwards, although they managed to rally in game 3, they continued to make mistakes in game 4. The team made a “blind pick” with the champion Braum for Keria. For a Support like Keria, using a champion that has almost no playmaking ability (except for the ultimate) is a huge waste. Not to mention, T1 also used Sion to face K’Sante while the new champion in League of Legends is clearly much more mobile and versatile than Sion.

These wrong choices were a major factor in T1’s defeat. The players themselves must also take responsibility for their performance. However, if they had truly made better choices, just like they did in the group stage or playoffs, perhaps T1 would have achieved a better result than the harsh reality.
