One of the surprises of LPL Spring 2023 is the powerful lineup of Top Esports (TES), which, after the addition of Rookie, failed to reach the finals. Furthermore, TES also lost its spot at MSI 2023 despite being one of the highly anticipated contenders. This forgettable performance has caused TES to extend another season without appearing in the second-largest international stage of the League of Legends (LoL).

Notably, TES lost all objectives just after the defeat to Oh My God (OMG) – a team that is far inferior to TES in both reputation and team quality. In fact, despite being a veteran name in the LPL, OMG has not been a strong enough force to compete for titles for quite some time. However, this Spring Split, the team surprised fans by reaching the playoffs and defeating both TES and LNG Esports. They only fell to Bilibili Gaming – a team preparing to contest the championship alongside JD Gaming.

Recently, player Aki from OMG revealed that during the match against TES, he performed a small trick to ‘hack vision’. Specifically, throughout the match, Aki was seen emoting frequently. Many initially thought it was Aki’s taunt, but it turned out to be his clever tactic.
Aki explained: “Every time I emote, I know Wayward (Top Laner of TES) will respond. So, I used this trick to find out where Wayward was.” Aki’s revelation surprised the audience. His tactic turned out to have the ‘assistance’ of Wayward, albeit unintentionally.

Of course, just having Aki’s additional vision was not the main reason for OMG’s victory over TES. The efforts of the players were the key factor that enabled OMG to achieve this feat, and the team is expected to continue its good performance in the upcoming LPL Summer Split.
