As we know, since leaving the LPL, SofM has frequently appeared on streams and produced high-level content surrounding professional matches. Recently, SofM took time to analyze the match between Gen.G and T1 in the LCK Spring 2023 finals. SofM provided many new perspectives on the most anticipated finals of Spring 2023. He acknowledged that Gen.G played well, but also stated that the team used “tricks” to secure victory against T1.

Specifically, SofM only analyzed games 1 and 2 of the LCK Spring 2023 finals. According to the former Weibo Gaming star, he pointed out that in both games, Gen.G players intentionally used some small tricks to limit T1’s laning advantage. First, there was Peanut in game 1 during the attempted steal of T1’s Blue Buff. At that time, the Gen.G player had to go down but he clearly delayed the laning time of Zeus and Faker. Faker’s Veigar even had to use Flash to secure Peanut’s kill. This was a disadvantage since Veigar is a less mobile champion, having to play against a hand-friendly Ahri with higher damage and Chovy still having his Flash available.

Next, in game 2, SofM also pointed out that Chovy, Delight, and Peyz were not afraid to use their Flashes to exchange for Gumayusi’s Flash along with a significant amount of his health. In fact, Delight even used Ignite on Gumayusi. This prevented the T1 duo (who had a better laning champion composition) from maximizing their strength. Delight later even had a bush ambush to attack Gumayusi, further putting T1’s ADC at a disadvantage against Peyz.

Additionally, SofM also admitted that the fault in game 1’s loss did not completely lie with Zeus but rather Oner, who was the player underperforming. The gank at toplane when Sejuani reached level 3 caused Zeus to go down and Doran to get a kill. While Doran played well, this situation completely outplayed Zeus from the game. Furthermore, Oner also had a 1v1 situation with Doran in game 2 despite not having Flash or his ultimate and was taken down.

SofM also believes that Gen.G needing to “play tricks” is completely understandable. T1 played exceptionally well and effectively utilized their champions, especially in the bot lane. Therefore, it was necessary for Gen.G to invest heavily to “shut down” T1’s bot lane. In fact, SofM pointed out that the duo of Gumayusi – Keria still performed very well even when other lanes were being pressured. If Gen.G had not “used tricks” and Oner had not underperformed, they might not have won game 2. SofM concluded: “T1 has good drafting; they test the limits of their composition. However, they could not dominate the opponents early game, which is why they lost. T1 lost this BO5, but they are still at a much higher level than Gen.G.”
Through SofM’s insights, it can be seen that both teams played exceptionally well in the finals, even T1 was at a higher level despite the loss. Gen.G capitalized on opportunities better and had more stable player performances to claim victory. T1 will still be a “boogeyman” at the upcoming MSI 2023. And if any team makes a mistake, T1 will definitely know how to make them pay dearly.
