On the evening of May 3rd (Vietnam time), GAM will have their debut match at MSI 2023 against Golden Guardians. Although in recent years, North American representatives have clearly weakened compared to the overall level of the four Major regions, GAM cannot afford to be complacent. Especially, GAM’s Bottom Lane is under scrutiny regarding the performance and display of Sty1e.

However, in the eyes of the international community, including professional players and experts, GAM can totally make a splash at this year’s MSI. The black-and-yellow team has created many surprises in the past. Therefore, expectations for GAM are well-founded.

However, according to caster Caedrel – a prominent figure in the League of Legends scene, while GAM is very strong, they could be even stronger, especially in the position of Kiaya. Recently, on the evening of May 2nd (Vietnam time), caster Caedrel had the opportunity to review GAM’s matches. Specifically, while watching the VCS finals, a viewer mentioned Kiaya as the best Top Laner of GAM and VCS at the moment. Caster Caedrel immediately recalled the match between GAM and Rogue during Worlds 2022.

Accordingly, the male caster pointed out Kiaya’s weakness is that he plays too much for the team and lacks the necessary boldness. Caedrel remarked: “In that match (against RGE), Kiaya could have completely ‘carried the team’ by himself. His Camille was too strong, too ‘fed’, but I don’t understand why he ended up playing like that. He built Frozen Heart for the team, and instead of controlling side lanes, he focused on staying with the team at the mid-lane turret that would definitely belong to GAM. It’s really hard to understand. It should have been a victory for GAM.”

From Caedrel’s analysis, revisiting the RGE match, it’s clear that Kiaya played for his teammates despite Camille also being a solid damage dealer. Not to mention, at that time Kiaya was the most ‘fed’ player on GAM and he could have applied pressure in side lanes, forcing RGE to play according to GAM’s style while creating space for Levi, Sty1e, and Kati to become stronger. But perhaps, it was GAM’s need for too many positions to be equipped and empowered that forced Kiaya to ‘sacrifice’.

At MSI 2023, GAM has a perfect opportunity to reflect and improve their issues. The players have gained international experience and many fans, both from VCS and around the world, hope that GAM’s players will deliver even more quality performances.
