In Teamfight Tactics, the rounds with monsters are where players can earn extra gold, items… The difficulty of the monsters in this game is not too high as they usually have low damage and relatively slow attack speed. This allows players to gather resources equal to their opponents even if their team composition is weaker.

However, according to the Project Director of Teamfight Tactics – Riot Mortdog, the rounds with monsters could have been much more difficult. In fact, Riot Games once developed a game mode similar to the “Super Terrifying Machine” for this game. According to Riot Mortdog, they scrapped this project due to concerns that players would become too frustrated and abandon Teamfight Tactics.

“Regarding increasing the difficulty of the rounds with monsters, we had this intention before. We even had an idea for a game mode with super strong monsters. However, we decided to remove this because we didn’t want to see players lose to monsters too often. It’s an incredibly bad feeling when playing Teamfight Tactics, and many people are willing to quit the game because of it” – Riot Mortdog shared during a live stream.

Indeed, losing to monsters in Teamfight Tactics is a terrible experience. This indicates that your team composition is too weak, and it’s hard to secure victories or sustain health when facing other players. Many players may feel frustrated and be ready to quit after losing a round to monsters like that.

However, the idea of a “Super Terrifying Machine” game mode is not bad at all. It would increase the difficulty of the game and satisfy players who love to conquer new challenges. This is a feasible idea that Riot Games should consider to develop a new game mode for “auto chess”.
