On May 7th, Golden Guardians (GG) defeated PSG Talon (PSG) to secure the last spot in the MSI 2023 Play-In Stage. Following that, the draw ceremony for the matchups took place, bringing some very interesting pairings. Coincidentally, in the first round, both representatives from the LEC will face teams from the LCK.

As for MAD Lions (MAD), this team will face T1 led by Faker in the upcoming Play-In Stage. In fact, the MAD team even posted a video showing their players and coaching staff celebrating their matchup against T1. However, the reason for this early celebration left audiences in stitches.
“Oh wow, we’re going to face T1 in the first match. Let’s celebrate, everyone! At least we might get to go home early with this draw. Thanks to Odoamne (the draw conductor at MSI 2023), our upcoming vacation might be extended by a few days,” said player Elyoya in the latest video.

Despite recently losing in the LCK Spring 2023 finals, T1 remains a very strong team at this year’s MSI. In fact, T1 has a wealth of experience competing in Best-of-Five series and is a formidable opponent in this tournament. Just in the recent LCK qualifiers, T1 defeated Gen.G and pushed them down to the lower bracket.

Therefore, it’s completely understandable for MAD to “celebrate” the possibility of an early vacation against T1. However, as the champions of the LEC region, it’s unlikely they will give up in their match against T1. Hopefully, MAD will compete with the highest spirit to make the match between them and T1 more exciting and thrilling.
