After successfully signing legendary ADC Uzi, EDward Gaming (EDG) is expected to make a comeback in the LPL Summer 2023 championship race. This expectation was further solidified when EDG defeated Invictus Gaming (IG) on Uzi’s return day. Consequently, this team is anticipated to be able to take down LNG Esports (LNG) in their next match.
However, the reality has shown that LNG is currently a much stronger opponent compared to EDG. Even in the Bottom Lane, LNG’s ADC GALA is an exceptionally skilled player. LNG did not appear to be weaker than EDG, even defeating this opponent with a score of 2-0 overall.
Sharing after the match, GALA expressed great respect for Uzi despite being the winner. “As an ADC player, it’s great to be able to face Uzi. He has just joined EDG and needs time to adapt to his new teammates. Uzi played very well during the laning phase. I believe that in just a few months, EDG with Uzi will be an extremely strong team,” GALA shared after the match.
To put it bluntly, EDG’s recruitment of Uzi seems like a “stopgap” measure when their main ADC – Leave – faced personal issues. Even when Uzi was unable to compete, EDG had to call up a young ADC from their academy to replace him. Clearly, with such little time to adapt, it is understandable that EDG and Uzi fell short against LNG.
The loss to LNG has dropped EDG to the lower half of the LPL Summer 2023 standings. Fortunately for this team, they will only face lower-ranked teams (Anyone’s Legend, Rare Atom) or those with unstable performance (Royal Never Give Up) in the upcoming week. This presents a perfect opportunity for EDG to improve their position.
