In recent days, these have likely been the most forgettable days for Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) since the team began building their “dream team” to conquer the LCK and the World Championship. Instead of showcasing a dominant performance and proving the caliber of their “all-star” lineup, the players of HLE have not truly demonstrated their worthiness of the investment made. To make matters worse, their captain – Clid – is now entangled in a very serious issue.

As we know, Clid has been accused by a female fan of making inappropriate and disrespectful remarks during a conversation with her. Moreover, Clid made extremely rude and explicit proposals that would be unacceptable even to an average person, let alone a professional player competing in the LCK. Immediately after the incident was made public by the female fan, Clid was removed from HLE’s main roster. And of course, with an inexperienced player like Grizzly stepping in, HLE has faced consecutive defeats.

To make matters worse, Clid’s situation has recently taken a serious turn. According to South Korean media, based on accusations from the female fan (referred to in the press here as Erica), this girl was born in 2005. At the time Clid made the inappropriate remarks during their conversation, Erica was only 17 years old. This means that, in the worst-case scenario, Clid could potentially have to end his professional career following this incident.

This is truly unfortunate, especially in Summer 2023, when Clid was showing that he and HLE were “in form” with consecutive victories before the incident occurred. Additionally, in a recent development, a truck from fans paraded around the LoL Park venue regarding Clid’s situation. The LCK organizers have also been criticized for not imposing any specific penalties for Clid and HLE’s case.

Originally rising from the T1 team, Clid’s career has not been smooth. Therefore, when he was selected for HLE’s “all-star” lineup, being the captain, many fans expressed doubt. But just as he began to prove his capabilities, Clid squandered the opportunity due to unnecessary troubles of his own making. Furthermore, he may also be throwing away the career he has worked hard to build over many years in the League of Legends scene.
