In the international League of Legends scene, while regions like North America (LCS) and Europe (LEC), as well as LPL, have their share of foreign players, the LCK is quite different. This region’s LoL scene is so developed and strong that they do not need foreign players. Moreover, foreign players coming to the LCK may not even be able to compete with local players. In fact, many talents from the LCK, unable to find their place, have had to migrate to other regions for the chance to compete.

However, recently, a young player is taking a completely opposite path. Specifically, this player, known by the nickname Gryffin, introduces himself as a Vietnamese-American currently living in Illinois, USA. Gryffin is only 16 years old (born in 2006) and plays the Jungle position with his favorite champion Kindred. He just climbed to the top of the Challenger leaderboard on the North American server.

Not only is Gryffin seeking competitive opportunities, but he may also become a foreign player in the LCK. Thanks to his talent, he has caught the eye of the famous streamer LS, who is stepping in to help him. For those who may not know, LS has returned to work in the LCK and has plans to place Gryffin in this region. According to LS, Gryffin has great potential and is the first player from the West to try out for an organization in the LCK since 2018.

Of course, LS is also looking for more opportunities for the young player. According to the streamer, Gryffin may also have to compete in academy teams, even if he gets an organization in the LCK to sign him. This is reasonable as the LCK is known for being harsh and there is a considerable gap in skill level between the LCK and academy leagues. Even young players from this region may struggle to adapt to the competitive environment of the highest-level tournament.

However, due to this gap, young players from the LCK have often not met expectations when promoted to the main team. Therefore, new blood from foreign players could be a solution, and Gryffin can certainly consider an opportunity to compete in the LCK in the future.
