A few days ago, EDward Gaming (EDG) faced a heartbreaking defeat with a score of 2-3 against Top Esports (TES). Therefore, EDG’s journey in the LPL Summer 2023 qualifiers has officially come to an end. This is truly a disappointing result as fans still recognize the significant effort from the team’s star – Uzi.

Although they cannot compete for the LPL championship title, EDG fans can take comfort in the fact that the team still has a chance to participate in the World Championship (Worlds) 2023. In fact, EDG, not Weibo Gaming (WBG) or LNG Esports (LNG), is the team holding the advantage in the upcoming regional qualifiers.
Specifically, EDG has earned 40 travel points thanks to their 6th place finish in LPL Summer 2023. In the previous season, the team also earned 50 travel points by finishing in 3rd place. With a total of 90 points, EDG is sure to surpass the travel points of either LNG or TES. Therefore, the team will secure a spot in the winners’ bracket of the regional qualifiers.

This means that with just one victory, EDG will secure a spot at the Worlds 2023. Thus, earning a spot early will allow the EDG team more time to rest after a grueling season. For a player like Uzi, who has a history of injuries, this is incredibly important.

Of course, EDG’s advantages will mean nothing if they fail and drop to the losers’ bracket. Hopefully, Uzi and his teammates understand this and will give their all in the next match.
