Gumayusi Plays a Key Role in T1’s Major Milestone

Perhaps before the match between T1 and BLG started, no one could have imagined that T1 would achieve a staggering 3-0 victory. In fact, some pessimistic fans might have even thought that T1 would be crushed by BLG, especially after Faker and his teammates struggled against CFO. But everything exceeded the expectations of perhaps most of the League of Legends community when T1 obliterated BLG in all three games, winning with a score of 3-0. In that match, AD Carry Gumayusi was named MVP for games 2 and 3, while game 1 went to Faker.

Notably, this victory for T1 marks a game where the reigning World Champion managed to “shut down” their losing streak against BLG in the MSI arena. Thus, in two consecutive international tournaments that T1 has participated in, Gumayusi has stood out as the key player helping the team end their poor performance streak. Previously, at the 2024 Worlds, T1 ended their losing streak when facing Gen.G. At that time, Gumayusi was also the player who received the MVP title.

Additionally, in the match against BLG, it wasn’t until the middle of game 3 that Gumayusi went down twice, while the entire BLG team focused all their efforts on taking down this AD Carry. It can be said that T1 played against BLG with their highest form, and Gumayusi was even higher than everyone else.

Ahead of T1 is Gen.G – a team that is currently on an incredibly long undefeated streak, extending from the start of the 2025 Regular Seasons to the present. But with what they have shown, T1 has grounds to be confident that they can compete evenly against Gen.G.

The winner of the upper bracket final will be an “early final” for both teams. Regardless of whether it’s T1 or Gen.G, the team that wins this matchup will have a significant opportunity to reach the MSI 2025 championship.
