After a period of presence on the PBE server, many top players of Teamfight Tactics have had the opportunity to experience and evaluate Season 9.5. Notably, several experts believe that Season 9.5 is facing quite a few design issues regarding champions (Nilah, Silco…) and traits. Recently, the “super master” Bebe872 shared that Season 9.5 has not improved in terms of strategic diversity compared to before.

Most recently, the number one player in the North America Challenger ranking – Dishsoap also expressed complaints about Season 9.5. This player bluntly pointed out that Nilah is an extremely “illogical” champion as she can utilize almost all types of trait emblems. Moreover, Nilah’s nature as a very strong champion means players can “throw” any kind of item onto her and still effectively “carry the team”.

So what has led to Nilah being assessed as such an “unbalanced” character? The main reason may lie in Nilah’s skill as it allows her to deal area damage, stack attack speed, dash, and create shields. With the equipment system revamped in Season 9.5, Nilah can effectively use any items as long as they provide one of the stats like physical damage, magic damage, or attack speed.
Furthermore, the effects of traits that can be combined with emblems in Season 9.5 simply provide stats for champions. Therefore, whether Nilah wields the Noxus, Shurima, Ionia, or even the Brawler emblem, she still benefits from the elements that those traits provide. The consequence is that the Nilah carry playstyle combined with URF Legends is proving to be extremely strong, rarely countered.

It should be noted that even the powerful 5-star champion Bel’Veth can only effectively use the Challenger or Ionia emblems. Therefore, Nilah’s ability to effectively utilize so many emblems is quite “illogical” and needs to be adjusted as soon as possible. Hopefully, Riot will make the right changes to bring Nilah back to a balanced state before the release of Season 9.5.
