Just hours ago, version 13.20 of League of Legends was updated by Riot on the PBE server. This is a massive update with significant changes to the gameplay of many League of Legends characters. Additionally, the champion Jax has received an extremely “cool” new look in this version.

However, what stands out in Jax’s upgrade is the dialogue, as this character has received many notable lines. Among them is Jax’s remark that the bravest hero he ever knew was a boy. This is a touching tribute from Riot to a player who loved this champion.

Specifically, this story took place in 2012 with the main character being a boy named Joe who suffered from cancer. Despite battling this cruel disease, Joe maintained a positive spirit and had a great love for League of Legends, especially for the champion Jax.

Joe was even invited to Riot Games to interact with the staff there and contribute ideas for the design of the Jax Arena skin. Unfortunately, Joe later succumbed to cancer and passed away at the end of 2012. Since then, the Jax Arena skin has been regarded by Riot staff as a representation of Joe’s optimistic and resilient spirit in the face of his illness.
When Riot Games upgraded the visuals and dialogues for Jax, Joe’s story was incorporated into all the skins that this character owns. Perhaps Riot hopes that the optimistic spirit and courage of this boy in every circumstance will resonate with the League of Legends community.
