Since its return to Summoner’s Rift, Statikk Shiv has been considered one of the most “dominant” items in the game. Not only marksmen champions, but even mid-lane mages have adopted this item as a “core” piece. The reason lies in the stats that Statikk Shiv provides, which includes both ability power and physical damage. Particularly, the item’s passive, Static Shock, offers rapid wave clearing capability – a crucial aspect for pushing lanes and controlling the game.

Despite its strength, Statikk Shiv did not initially attract players when it debuted in patch 13.10. It wasn’t until patch 13.11 when Riot buffed this item that it started to gain traction, as players became more familiar with it and maximized its potential. Since it rose to prominence during the 2023 Summer Split, with the LeBlanc Triumvirate build rapidly gaining popularity, Riot was forced to implement emergency nerfs to the item. As of now, Statikk Shiv has undergone six consecutive nerfs.

Moreover, even after months of nerfs, players have remained persistent, finding ways to leverage the item’s powerful wave clearing and flexible build paths. Statikk Shiv is everywhere and shows no signs of slowing down before Worlds 2023. Recently, a player and content creator for Team Liquid shared a photo where both LeBlanc and Twisted Fate were building Statikk Shiv – Triumvirate – Galeforce.

However, according to some assessments, it will be difficult to claim that Statikk Shiv can completely “dominate” Worlds 2023 in the way it has done during the Summer Split and recently. Nevertheless, it is almost certain that Statikk Shiv will still see extensive use, perhaps just as much as it did during the Summer Split, even after Riot has thoroughly nerfed this item.
