As we know, recently Faker and his teammates from the Vietnamese League of Legends (LoL) team won the Gold Medal at ASIAD. However, there was no time for celebration, as right after this tournament, the players had only a very short break before stepping into the 2023 World Championship (Worlds). This biggest international tournament of the LoL scene is just as important for Faker and T1 as they had “fallen at the gates of heaven” last year.
The players themselves must combine training with rank climbing to keep their skills sharp. For Faker, he has to be even more cautious, as during the LCK Summer 2023, he had to take a long break to recover from an injury. Certainly, both Faker and T1, along with the LoL fans, do not want the past to repeat itself at Worlds 2023. However, recently, Faker has been very active in rank climbing and has had many highlight moments.
Notably, recently, Faker used the champion Kennen Top Lane in a match where his teammate faced a famous star from Cloud9 – Zven. The two players obviously had no trouble dominating the match. However, the highlight of the match came when Faker’s Kennen executed a very clever play and used Lightning Storm to wipe out the enemy team.
It is worth mentioning that Faker had a chance to secure a Pentakill, but his teammate Gragas “saved” Flash until the last minute and only used it to execute the combo Flash – Body Slam – Drunken Rage – Explosive Cask to “steal” the Pentakill from the “Chairman”. Notably, Faker continuously pinged Gragas after his Pentakill was stolen right in front of him.
LoL fans were very excited by the performance of the duo Faker – Zven. However, a more important factor was pointed out by a fan who received over 2k upvotes: “Now I realize Faker still loves this game very much. Seeing how hard he tries for the Pentakill and how he pinged his teammate when it was stolen shows that Faker’s spirit and will to win are still very strong.” Many viewers even admitted that Faker’s way of playing is just like theirs: “To Flash on F, pinging teammates non-stop, losing a Pentakill, I suddenly realize I am just like Faker.”
With the exhilaration after winning the Gold Medal at ASIAD, Faker is certainly looking forward to Worlds 2023 with many positive outcomes. Not to mention, T1 this year has also escaped the psychological burden from the huge expectations of fans, and perhaps this is the real T1 at its strongest, ready to bring surprises at the upcoming prestigious tournament.
