The match against Movistar R7 will be a “revenge” match and one of the last two opportunities for GAM Esports at the 2023 World Championship (Worlds 2023). At MSI 2023, the loss to R7 led to GAM being eliminated, and they have been criticized by a section of VCS fans ever since. However, GAM ultimately emerged victorious with a convincing score of 2-0. Not only did they keep their hopes alive at Worlds 2023, but they also successfully avenged themselves by sending R7 back home.

More notably, in this match, during game 2, Slayder executed a stunning Pentakill at the end of the game. This can be seen as a fitting finale to what R7 had inflicted on GAM at MSI 2023 up to this point. Additionally, Slayder also left many fans disappointed for not selecting him for their Pick’Ems. Notably, 2 out of 3 Pentakills at Worlds 2023 so far have been marked by the yellow-black team representing VCS.

However, the Pentakill cannot overshadow one fact: Slayder still had some unnecessary “overexcitement” during the match, especially in game 2. The moment when he, as the ADC playing Xayah, engaged without Cleanse ahead of Levi’s Vi or Kati’s Syndra likely surprised his teammates as well. That overzealous kill attempt was one of two deaths for Slayder in game 2. Many fans commented: “Slayder really got a bit too carried away; luckily R7 lost completely, otherwise who knows what would have happened.”

LOUD is definitely a stronger opponent than R7 at this point. And mistakes like Slayder’s need to be absolutely eliminated immediately if the yellow-black squad wants to advance further in the Swiss stage.
