Even after briefly returning to lead the Vietnamese LoL team at the Hangzhou ASIAD, SofM returned to livestreaming after completing his duties. He is currently one of the co-stream channels for Worlds 2023 in Vietnam and attracts a large viewership.
With his skill level, SofM could still contribute significantly to the League of Legends scene in Vietnam and globally. Not far from now, during the ongoing Worlds 2023, according to members of Team Whales and GAM Esports, SofM has provided many valuable tips to the teams. In fact, TW even briefly appointed SofM as a mentor coach for the team. Although SofM did not take any compensation, many fans believe that TW’s impressive journey at Worlds 2023 was partly due to SofM’s contributions.
Recently, there was information that Vikings Gaming has acquired Saigon Buffalo (including the players and the spot in VCS for this team). Although all parties have yet to confirm, this news has sparked some rumors. Most notably, the Vietnamese LoL audience is hopeful that SofM might “make a comeback” in a new role, such as the head coach of a VCS team. For those who may not know, SofM also holds shares in Vikings Gaming.
Recently, SofM’s fanpage posted a cryptic status: “Youth lives fully with what is called passion.” Instantly, this made the Vietnamese LoL audience “buzz.” According to many speculations, this could be a subtle indication that SofM will return to his greatest passion – professional LoL in the near future. However, considering he has been away from the player role for a long time, SofM might appear as the coach of a VCS team in 2024.
If SofM truly returns to the professional arena and joins the VCS, 2024 will be one of the most exciting years for the tournament. Of course, it will be hard to expect SofM to compete as a player. But as long as SofM is a coach, it could be a real turning point that would make the VCS more enjoyable and attractive, significantly elevating the skill level as well.
