As mentioned, the organizers of VCS and Riot in Vietnam have started allowing registrations for the VCS Promotion Round in preparation for the 2024 season. Several teams have already been documented on the Lol.fandom portal, including some names still unfamiliar to VCS fans, as well as teams made up entirely of the “veterans” of Vietnam’s largest LMHT tournament. However, there are still some stories that catch the audience’s attention. Once again, the name SBTC Esports is brought up.
Specifically, not long ago, the official fanpage of SE was acquired and renamed to Ranking Esports – an organization still unfamiliar to VCS fans. However, according to numerous announcements from this page, RE was even preparing to announce their line-up with images taken in the practice room. Additionally, this RE team appeared in the information about the teams participating in the upcoming VCS Promotion Round. All signs indicated that RE could be a rookie in VCS for the 2024 season, until November 7.
However, on their fanpage, RE unexpectedly announced they would not participate in the upcoming Promotion Tournament and did not set a date for their return. Thus, after all the promotional efforts and media engagement since taking over the VCS fanpage, RE can now be seen as temporarily “vanished” from the League of Legends scene in Vietnam. Previously, according to information from the Promotion Round, RE had acquired Phi1 and Artifact, two names familiar to VCS fans. However, currently, Artifact has moved to Rainbow Warriors – a team with familiar names such as Noway, EasyLove, 2T… and is considered the strongest candidate for promotion.
For their part, RE has certainly left many VCS fans disappointed. Alongside sarcastic comments, some opinions have directly stated: this team has shown no seriousness from the beginning. They didn’t even intend to build their own media system, opting instead to buy the fanpage from SE. Now, having nothing to show for it, they might soon be heading towards dissolution. Some fans immediately recalled similar negative cases involving SE players recently.
But regardless of the reasons, RE remains silent after their announcement. The audience might also understand that this team may have to wait until at least the Summer Promotion Round or for some sudden change to reappear in VCS in the future.
