High Likelihood of JDG Disbanding, the Cause Turns Out to Be a Strong “Self-Destruct” Related to Kanavi

JDG may disband but it has nothing to do with expertise or debts.

As we know, to possess a “superstar” lineup in the LPL, which has had a salary cap for quite some time, JD Gaming has reportedly faced numerous penalties, according to regional media. However, despite significant investment, the results have not truly satisfied fans, especially at the 2023 World Championship (Worlds). As a result, there has been much speculation that JDG will soon say goodbye to their current “super team” even before their match against T1 begins.

However, in a recent development, the disbandment of JDG may be due to the team “self-destructing” without any relation to debts or expertise quality. Specifically, according to some reports from Chinese media, recently users on HUPU (one of the largest social media platforms here with many topics related to League of Legends) encountered a perplexing situation. When searching for the name of player Kanavi (the Jungle player of JDG), instead of returning information or articles related to the player, it only displayed the audience rating score for this player on HUPU during the match against T1 (2.9 points).

Notably, this situation only applied to Kanavi – the player deemed to have performed the worst in the match against T1. Other players appeared unaffected. Previously, there were also reports that Knight and 369 were also victims of attacks. Many assessments suggest this could be JDG’s media handling move, turning Kanavi into a “scapegoat.” Furthermore, there have been reports that Kanavi might return to the LPL. Perhaps that’s why JDG wants the LPL audience to despise this player even more.

However, these are just discussions among League of Legends fans, and JDG remains silent in the face of the accusations. But with the not-so-good results at Worlds 2023, as well as the troubles both internally and externally, the possibility of JDG ending their existing “super team” seems clearer than ever.
