As is well known, one of the essential factors of the Vietnamese gaming community in general and of games like Esports in particular is drama. This is a “specialty” that is hardly glorious but almost always appears at any time of the year and attracts significant attention from the community. Especially, the larger the player communities like League of Legends or DOTA 2, Arena of Valor, the more attention each drama receives. The reasons for drama are varied, but they almost always involve some aspects of financial matters.

Recently, a drama has caught the attention of the DOTA 2 community and the Esports scene, as a “wealthy patron” of this community, referred to as Mr. H., decided to invest in a female streamer and cosplayer to enhance her image and reputation. According to circulating information, the initial reason stemmed from Mr. H.’s admiration for the female streamer, even though she wasn’t truly famous. Mr. H. himself also has a family, but due to wanting his idol to become more famous, he did not hesitate to invest money. In return, the female streamer would have to comply with certain requirements like a true KOL.

However, after some time, Mr. H. discovered that the female streamer (named C.P) had an unclear relationship with someone (whom she referred to as a close male friend) named M. Notably, despite being just a close friend, M. had considerable influence over Mr. H., encouraging him to continue investing in the female streamer. It is also noteworthy that this female streamer showed signs of not adhering to the agreement with Mr. H. previously.

The situation only unraveled after Mr. H. discovered that M. was not just a close male friend but in fact the boyfriend of C.P. At this point, feeling deceived and believing that C.P. had violated the agreement, Mr. H. demanded the female streamer refund all the invested costs along with items that C.P. had borrowed (and taken out loans for). Additionally, Mr. H. also exposed the incident on many major forums within the Vietnamese gaming community. According to Mr. H.’s calculations, the total amount he had invested in the female streamer exceeded 300 million VND, along with furniture to support livestreaming and gifts on special occasions.

On her part, C.P also made clear counterarguments. Specifically, the female streamer claimed that Mr. H. had made derogatory remarks about her. At the same time, C.P also affirmed that she would provide information regarding the incident. However, more than half a day has passed, and the female streamer has yet to make any new moves.

Currently, the incident continues to garner attention from the gaming community, especially within DOTA 2. However, it is certain that the cosplayer and streamer community will face another wave of challenges due to the fan-idol relationships and the immense donations that often come with tumultuous situations.
