The Demacia Cup is an annual tournament in the LPL aimed at helping teams prepare for the upcoming season. This year, the significance is heightened as most teams bring their main rosters. However, for the former 2021 World Champion – EDward Gaming (EDG), this year’s Demacia Cup has turned into a disaster for them.

Specifically, EDG recently suffered a clean sweep loss of 0-3 at the Demacia Cup, getting eliminated right from the group stage. What’s more concerning is that they faced defeat against teams considered weaker, such as AL and TT. As a result, the former 2021 World Champion has faced quite a bit of backlash from fans. Some viewers even believe that EDG will suffer a “disastrous” result, potentially losing 0-16 in the upcoming 2024 Spring LPL season.
The way EDG plays truly makes me unable to stop laughing.
Perhaps EDG should disband the roster to preserve their dignity. Does this lineup really have a future?
I think next season they will lose 0-16, this is something that can be seen ahead of time.

It should be noted that since joining the LPL in Spring 2014, EDG has never been eliminated without a win in the group stage. Their worst record in the LPL group stage was in Spring 2019 when they finished 7th with 9 wins and 6 losses. If this team truly fails 0-16 in the upcoming season, it will be the worst result in EDG’s history.

In the recent transfer season, EDG lost their captain Meiko as he transferred to TES. Perhaps this has caused EDG’s gameplay to become completely “lost” as their movement and team fighting abilities in mid-game have been very poor. EDG players still have decent skill executions, but their macro play and team fighting weaknesses have led them to a clean loss at the Demacia Cup 2023.

Therefore, the possibility of EDG having a “disastrous” season without qualifying for the 2024 Spring LPL is something that can be anticipated. Perhaps all EDG fans can hope for now is that this team does not “lose clean” 0-16 and manages to secure a few honorable victories.
