The Power of the Surprise Forge Augment – True Damage
Among the Diamond-tier augments in TFT, the Surprise Forge augment is often considered super “useless” by players. The reason lies in its ability to turn all of a player’s combined items into random artifacts, which can easily lead to “screwing up” the main carry. However, recent top players have discovered that this augment is extremely compatible with the True Damage composition.

Basically, True Damage champions, who are not typically main carries, usually only hold one item to gain the effect of their trait. At this point, the effect of the Surprise Forge augment becomes significantly valuable on the True Damage composition since single artifacts are much stronger than regular items. Furthermore, items from the Sturdy Fan trait (with Kennen) are unaffected by this augment. Therefore, the main carry (Star Guardian champions) still possesses great power despite the other two items being random.
How to Utilize the Surprise Forge – True Damage Combo
First, players should start with a True Damage Star Guardian champion to get through the early game. Yasuo or Senna will be prime choices at this point as they are strong physical and magical carry champions. With just a Justice Hand (Yasuo) or Nashor’s Fang (Senna), players can maintain their health very well.

As the game progresses into the mid-stage, players should add high-value 3-cost champions like Ekko or Neeko to ensure the strength of the frontline. The 4 True Damage threshold becomes very important at this stage, as the significant true damage will help the main carry quickly take down opponents. If lucky enough, players should also add Lulu and Ahri to boost magical damage.

By the late game, players should seek out True Damage Star Guardian Akali to ensure damage output. Additionally, this unit also makes good use of many artifact items, making it very suitable for the Surprise Forge augment. Furthermore, Qiyana will be a strong addition due to her ability to acquire more items, thus increasing the number of artifacts received.

Items and Augment
For melee carries like Yasuo or Akali, items such as Infinity Blade or Death Dance are excellent choices. Senna and Ahri in the backline should possess Muramana or Hextech Gunblade. Regarding augments, the Hidden Treasure augment fits this playstyle very well as it provides players with many additional items.
