It has become clear since the start of the MSI 2024 journey that T1’s performance has left their fans worried. The team, still the reigning World Champion, has not truly reached its best form. And perhaps, aside from the matches in the Play-In stage, T1 has consistently left many concerns since entering the group stage. The reasons may stem from both objective and subjective factors, but clearly at this moment, no one dares to believe that T1 will be the champion in Chengdu this year. Especially after the recent winners’ finals match between Gen.G and Bilibili Gaming, the LCK champion showcased an impeccable performance.

In the match against Team Liquid, T1 demonstrated that they are genuinely trying to grasp the best meta possible. The lane swapping has posed challenges for T1 players as their habit typically revolves around the “win lane, win game” strategy. However, the lane swapping has nearly rendered this strategy ineffective. T1’s slow adaptation is understandable and can be empathized with. Transitioning from a playstyle that maximizes each member’s potential to a meta that could be described as a “weak point” is never an easy feat for anyone.

However, some recent images of Faker may raise concerns among fans. Specifically, after the match with TL, while Faker was adjusting his equipment, his right hand displayed noticeable discomfort. Previously, Faker had also admitted that his hand injury had not fully recovered 100%. Coupled with the intense competition schedule, the likelihood of Faker re-injuring himself is quite high. This is genuinely alarming, as in the remaining 3 days of MSI 2024, if T1 wants to compete for the championship, they will have to play daily in a series of BO5 matches.

But perhaps, Faker himself understands that MSI 2024 could be his last opportunity to win this tournament once again. The opponent ahead, G2, is also incredibly strong, but Faker will likely strive to perform at his best, especially since 2024 is only just past the halfway mark.
