On May 17, T1 achieved a convincing 3-0 victory to eliminate G2 Esports (G2) from MSI 2024. This victory showcases T1’s excellent preparations in terms of strategy and draft picks, as they were not caught off guard by G2’s playstyle. This also provides a significant psychological boost for Faker and his teammates as they continue to nurture hopes of winning MSI this year.

For G2 fans, the team’s loss to T1 was perhaps not too surprising. As a result, the audience from the LEC region showed only regret or offered encouragement to G2, without criticizing the team. Meanwhile, the local fans of this year’s MSI expressed their frustration and continued to “throw stones” at Top Esports (TES) due to their defeat.

Indeed, if we closely follow the match between G2 and T1, we can still see certain bright spots from the LEC representative. This team has relatively good laning abilities, especially in Caps’s position, and posed significant challenges for T1. Therefore, even though G2 lost to T1 with a score of 0-3, their performance still deserves recognition.

In contrast, regarding TES, this team indeed displayed an attitude of “giving up” too early in their loss to G2. In terms of laning, team fights, skill execution… TES was completely outmatched by the LEC representative in that match. Clearly, this performance was unacceptable to LPL fans, as they expected TES to go far or at least finish in the top 4 at MSI 2024.

Not stopping there, T1’s victory also opens up a very “dark” scenario for LPL fans. In the event that T1 surpasses BLG in the upcoming match, this year’s MSI Finals will be an “internal conflict” between two LCK teams. Not to mention whether Gen.G or T1 will be crowned champions, the sight of an LCK team lifting the MSI trophy in front of their home fans is something no LPL fan wants to witness.

Perhaps for this reason, TES has received such criticism. This creates significant pressure on the TES team to succeed in the upcoming summer season. If they cannot overcome this pressure, they may fail and set more unfortunate records in the future.
