On the evening of May 25th, the Vietnamese League of Legends community had an unpleasant experience. Specifically, right on the weekend when many players finally had time to enjoy some casual games, Riot’s Vanguard system encountered a severe issue. Notably, it affected not only League of Legends but also VALORANT, which fell victim to the “disaster”. Globally, players from various regions such as Europe, America, and Korea also reported similar issues.

For those who may not know, Vanguard is a system designed to combat cheating and hacking by monitoring third-party applications and software that interfere with games developed by Riot. League of Legends has only recently implemented Vanguard, and now it seems to have malfunctioned. Naturally, frustration spread across various social media forums. In fact, posts announcing Vanguard’s issues from Riot in Vietnam were met with intense backlash from the community. It is particularly aggravating that after the error persisted for quite some time, Riot’s notifications about the issue were only posted later, further increasing players’ irritation.

Amid the frustration over Riot’s “improvements that fell short” for League of Legends, ruining many players’ Saturday, several players reminisced about the time when League of Legends was under Garena’s management. Many players recall that period as a time of comfort without any software like Vanguard affecting them. Furthermore, Garena hosted numerous events for Vietnamese League of Legends players, while Riot has only organized a limited number of repetitive events over time.

However, amidst the wave of player frustration, VNGGames found itself “caught in the crossfire” as many gamers mentioned this publisher in their anger. Nevertheless, there were still many rational voices that promptly “cleared VNGGames’ name”. After all, only Riot has the authority to resolve this issue.

Regardless, players have been heavily impacted, especially those who can only take advantage of the weekend to unwind. If Riot fails to provide an adequate resolution, they may continue to face dissatisfaction from their own customers.
