The price for Faker’s HoL skin has become one of the most talked-about topics in the League of Legends community since Riot officially released the in-game trailer for the skin line on May 28. Even within the international community, a price starting from 450 USD for a pass is indeed something to ponder. While it’s known that in the future, Faker’s HoL skin will be a rare item, and it’s very likely to be the last skin made exclusively for Faker (not counting the mandatory 2023 Worlds skin), it still holds significant value in terms of meaning.

However, there’s a detail that’s causing fierce debate within the community, even among those who want to own this skin but are not T1 fans, simply wishing to express their love and admiration for Faker. Accordingly, the Signature Immortalized Legend Collection honoring Faker will cost around 6 million VND, and 30% of the revenue from this collection will be shared with the person introduced (Faker) and all teams (likely only within the LCK region).

The majority have expressed confusion over Riot’s decision. It’s true that Riot already has policies in place for sharing profits from skin sales with teams in regions where the team has just become champions at the Worlds, but that applies at the team level. Meanwhile, this skin honors only Faker, meaning it pertains solely to the individual player. If profits still have to be shared, many feel it is somewhat unreasonable for Faker.

However, even in the LCK or any other region, the revenue and profits of teams vary greatly and not every team can be like T1. Thus, this profit-sharing move is also a way for Riot to help smaller teams sustain and strengthen their rosters, fostering a growing region. Therefore, perhaps Faker himself wouldn’t place much emphasis on the issue of revenue sharing or focusing on himself.

Faker’s HoL collection will officially launch at the beginning of June and will end in early July. Therefore, players who wish to own it can start “investing” gradually, but it will still be quite a hefty price for the League of Legends community, which primarily consists of teenagers.
