As we know, just as the group stage of the VCS Summer 2024 was about to conclude, a heavy blow struck the League of Legends scene in Vietnam when Riot and the VCS organizers announced the cancellation of all remaining matches to investigate allegations of malpractice. Following this, a lengthy list of 32 names, including players and coaches from all 8 teams, was published, leaving the audience stunned. Even highly anticipated teams like GAM Esports and Vikings Esports, Team Whales, had players included in the additional investigation.

As time passes, VCS fans are eagerly awaiting the final list of players who will be “removed” in this match-fixing scandal. Previously, some teams such as TW and GAM, VKE had already taken related actions. While TW announced the temporary suspension of two players, Gloryy and BeanJ, GAM quietly confirmed that the substitute roster used during the Spring playoffs would also compete in the upcoming Summer season. VKE is actively recruiting personnel in preparation for the new season as SofM is definitely not returning to play.

Recently, on the morning of June 3rd, the VCS community was abuzz as many notable figures in the Vietnamese League of Legends scene began to make statements. GAM’s COO Izumin posted a cryptic message that simply said “Wow League of Legends.” Meanwhile, player Eddie announced a farewell to fans for a year but still maintained his innocence.

In light of this information, the VCS community is in a frenzy. Everyone knows that Riot and the VCS organizers need to make an announcement soon for teams to prepare for the upcoming Summer tournament. But when that moment will come is anyone’s guess.

Nevertheless, it seems that Judgment Day for the VCS is drawing near. Regardless of the outcome of the additional investigation, the VCS is set to experience significant changes, possibly the largest in the tournament’s history, as it witnesses a match-fixing case involving such a large number of individuals for the first time.
