Perhaps never before have the CKTG skins been awaited like this time, as the owner is T1 and the official announcement period is unusually longer than usual since Riot had to avoid the time frame of Faker’s Hall of Legends collection. Therefore, recently, when this skin line just appeared on the PBE server, it has already caused a stir in the League of Legends community. On many forums, from China to VCS and the West, posts about this skin line have “sprouted like mushrooms” and, of course, have also led to a lot of controversies.
There are quite a few opinions stating that this skin line from T1 does not truly reflect the team’s colors (which traditionally feature red, black, and white) while the CKTG 2023 skin primarily showcases pink and blue. In fact, many viewers have even compared it to previous skin lines. However, alongside that, the majority still defend T1’s skin line, asserting that these skins have more beautiful effects and significant meanings compared to almost all previous skin lines, as well as cleverly integrating traditional Korean elements along with T1’s identity.

For example, in the Lee Sin skin, Oner indeed incorporated the “Bengi stone” effect to assert the inheritance of the legacy left by Bengi from the SKT T1 era. Or in Bard’s skin, the Recall animation comforts Lux – the champion that if Keria had been bolder and used in at least one match could have earned the first honor skin in his skin line. Most notably, Faker’s Orianna, where the Recall animation depicts paintings from the Joseon dynasty’s palaces. Additionally, there is the presence of Imoogi – a fierce serpent that has trained for a long time to become a dragon – reminding us of the long wait for Faker from his 2016 CKTG championship to the 2023 CKTG.
In fact, whenever CKTG skins are launched, comparisons with older skins will inevitably occur. Moreover, this skin for T1 seems to honor the efforts that the players have worked hard to achieve, as well as to spread Korean traditions. Therefore, perhaps for the players, the accompanying meaning is more important than the profit value that the skin line can bring.
