Faker and his teammates obliterate KT
The second match of the first round of the LCK Summer 2024 playoffs was particularly noteworthy as it featured the T1 – KT Rolster matchup. These two teams have been seen as “fierce rivals” for many seasons, especially since T1’s dominance over KT in the “telecom wars” prior to 2022. In the group stage, both teams had an even head-to-head record, and fans were looking forward to a tense, dramatic battle. However, T1 in the playoffs with BO5 matches is always a very dangerous T1. Faker and his teammates demonstrated this right from the first match with a perfect annihilation of KT.

Notably, on the day T1 easily overcame KT with a score of 3-1, and Faker showcased his 78th champion in the Mid Lane – Smolder, the T1 players also reached a more memorable milestone. Specifically, Zeus secured another pentakill in his career, particularly with the champion Olaf – a name that Zeus does not use frequently. Zeus’s Olaf can be seen as a surprising choice, as throughout Summer 2024, Olaf was used only twice, in the two games against KT recently. Consequently, Olaf’s win rate is also 100%.
Community Reactions to Zeus’s Pentakill
However, one of the most interesting points for fans about Faker and his teammates after the match against KT was that Zeus’s pentakill went unimpeded. Previously, both Gumayusi, Faker, and Oner had at least been “interfered” with by their own teammates at least once. The most notable was Faker’s “almost pentakill” during Spring 2022, which was shut down by Oner’s Nidalee. Since then, Oner has not been allowed to use Nidalee again, and many fans jokingly remarked that this was due to him having “offended” Faker.

– “This is not Zeus, the one who frequently gets ganked, that I know”
– “Am I dreaming? No one stole Zeus’s pentakill?”
– “Guma had a great initiation, setting up for Zeus’s pentakill, respect to Guma for two outstanding performances in this match”
In reality, these comments are probably just jokes as they witnessed a confident and different T1. But nevertheless, many fans also hope this achievement will boost Zeus’s morale and that of the T1 members in preparation for even tougher matches against formidable opponents like Dplus KIA, Hanwha Life Esports, and especially Gen.G.
