Former World Champion Faces Trouble for Being Too “Tryhard” in League of Legends
Besides his fame from winning the 2019 World Championship and his cheerful personality, Doinb also impresses audiences with his extremely unique “tryhard” style in League of Legends. Specifically, the former World Champion of 2019 frequently uses the chat frame to record the cooldown times of his opponents’ important summoner spells. For example, if the enemy mid-lane’s Teleport spell comes off cooldown at 12 minutes and 25 seconds, Doinb will chat “Mid1225TP” in the chat frame. This is a highly effective way for Doinb to memorize and share information while climbing ranks or even during tournament matches.

However, recently Doinb faced “trouble” due to this habit when his account on the Korean server was banned for 7 days. The reason stems from the fact that the former champion continuously used chat to record the cooldown times of opponents’ summoner spells with a series of character strings like “930mid 940ad 11midTP 1030jug 1220top” “1220top 1440midTP” “2710sup 2730ad 28mid 31jug”. It is highly likely that Riot’s system identified this as malicious “spam chat” and issued the ban. Doinb himself was extremely astonished to receive such an “unreasonable” penalty from Riot Games.

According to Doinb’s own share, he has maintained this habit while playing League of Legends for 10 years, and this is the first time he has faced such a ban. “Honestly, I have been playing League of Legends with the habit of remembering the cooldown times of summoner spells like this for 10 years. Yet, this habit has led to my account being banned in such an upsetting manner. I might have to go to the restroom in front of Riot Games’ headquarters to vent my frustration. If anyone has the address, please send it to me,” Doinb openly shared.

The League of Legends Community Mocks Riot After the Incident with the Former World Champion
Right after this incident was widely shared, the League of Legends community expressed their full support for Doinb. It’s worth noting that Riot Games itself once had a time when it disabled the ping system in League of Legends and stated that players only needed to chat to resolve everything (from requesting teammates to remembering opponents’ summoner spells). Therefore, Doinb’s use of the chat frame to remember opponents’ summoner spells is nothing wrong to warrant such a ban on his account.

Of course, Doinb going to the restroom in front of Riot Games’ headquarters will almost certainly never happen. The former World Champion likely just said that to temporarily vent his anger over being banned unfairly. However, this incident also highlights that Riot’s penalty system operates too mechanically and cannot distinguish between malicious “spam chat” behavior. Hopefully, Riot Games will soon realize their mistake and lift the ban on Doinb as soon as possible.
