The “Overpowered” New Champion of the LoL Community
On the evening of October 22, Riot introduced the new champion Ambessa on the test server. This champion is expected to be released in the update following the conclusion of the 2024 World Championship. Ambessa is also the first champion in the League of Legends universe to appear in a movie before making their debut in the game. However, what’s more concerning is that Ambessa’s skill set, as shown in promotional clips, seems overly “broken” and is raising alarms within the community.

Firstly, Ambessa is clearly designed as a Fighter. This champion utilizes inner energy instead of mana, allowing Ambessa to consistently regenerate and use skills. However, the concern is that even without the healing or lifesteal abilities like K’Sante, Ambessa appears to be even more “broken” than the champion from Shurima.

Thanks to her passive ability, Ambessa can dash 3 to 4 times within a few seconds, making her an incredibly mobile champion. Additionally, Ambessa’s skill set allows her to increase damage, attack speed, and create shields. According to a video clip by Vandiril (a bug expert in LoL), Ambessa can dash up to 26 times in just 30 seconds.
Both Marksmen and the LoL Community are “Screaming”
Clearly, Riot’s new champion with such a mobile skill set will make it very difficult for Marksmen to compete. With just a K’Sante using Ghost, he can become a “200-year” champion, while Ambessa, with her dashing and damage-dealing skills, will be on a whole different, “dominant” level.
Many gamers are also lamenting and predicting that Ambessa could be an extremely “broken” champion, always defaulted to being banned during ranked play or competitions. And if Riot is expected to successfully balance Ambessa, there might already be another “200-year” champion in the making.

But anyway, this is still just a test version, and until the official launch, Riot likely has a lot of work to do with this champion from Piltover.
