Faker’s Remarks Towards Chovy
It can be said that the match against Gen.G was yet another showcase of Faker’s value, even though he is now older. In particular, the battle between Faker and Chovy throughout the match clearly reflected the final result. Over the course of all four games, Faker almost completely outplayed Chovy. However, when sharing in a post-match interview, the T1 mid-laner had humble words and positive feedback about the performance of his junior and opponent on the other side.

According to Faker, “I had a match against Chovy and even though we won, I personally think I didn’t play too well. I think Chovy played very well. In fact, Chovy is an incredible player, so I believe he will be able to win the Worlds one day. But right now, I think this is our time, and that’s why we won. Of course, I feel comfortable because I had an interesting match with Chovy.”

Faker Showed that Chovy Still Has a Long Journey Ahead
The recent semifinal match can be said to have revealed all of Faker’s strengths and, conversely, all of Chovy’s weaknesses. In critical situations, Chovy did not show the necessary boldness or creativity. Meanwhile, in the final skirmish of game 4, Faker was willing to charge in as a “decoy” and bait the entire Gen.G team to use all their skills on him, placing his teammates in a favorable position to counterattack. In contrast, Chovy played too safely and then made the mistake of not retreating to defend when his teammates had already been taken down, only to get caught by Keria’s hook and fall.

Perhaps that was just Chovy’s reaction when he felt the match was slipping out of his control. But clearly, when Gen.G needed him, Chovy did not step up. The elements of mentality, psychology, and the necessary star moments are what have, are, and may continue to hinder Chovy on his path to conquer the Worlds.
