There are reports that GAM is preparing to welcome a new recruit
In the context of the 2025 season witnessing the merger of VCS into the APAC region as announced by Riot, the Vietnamese League of Legends scene has already seen many changes. However, the news surrounding GAM Esports continues to dominate. According to some information circulating in the VCS community, GAM may be preparing to welcome a new recruit who is no stranger to the fans here. That person is none other than Artemis – a player currently representing Team Whales and is now a key pillar of this team after Gloryy and BeanJ were banned from competition.

If this information turns out to be true, GAM could further solidify their AD carry position. In the current lineup of the VCS champions, there is already EasyLove, who specializes in playing weak side, allowing GAM to funnel resources to Emo and Kiaya, Levi on the strong side. However, GAM also needs an AD carry who can utilize resources and convert them into damage to “carry the team.” Artemis fits this description perfectly.

Many opinions have pointed out that Neo is also an AD carry similar to Artemis, and even has experience competing in the LCS. But perhaps for various reasons, Neo was not utilized much during the Summer Split or the recent Worlds journey of GAM. Furthermore, GAM has also “given the green light” for Neo to seek new opportunities, and perhaps Artemis being brought in (if it happens) is to replace this Vietnamese player.

But will it really be effective for GAM?
It’s probably unnecessary to state that GAM’s playstyle revolves around the top side with Kiaya – Levi as the central figures. This has been the case since GAM began to establish an unshakeable dominance in Vietnamese League of Legends. Even at Worlds 2024, when nearly all major teams (T1, BLG, Gen.G, TES, or even PSG Talon) focused on AD carries, GAM still centered around Kiaya – Levi, despite having an AD carry who could convert resources very well in Neo.

It can be said that this playstyle has become ingrained in the consciousness of both GAM and the audience. Who would “dare” to let Kiaya play tank or be a support? Who would “dare” to funnel resources to an AD carry when Slayder has shown how “out of sync” he can be on the international stage? The answer so far remains: no one has “dared” to let Kiaya play support.

Moreover, GAM currently also has Emo as a source of damage. Thus, if they can recruit Artemis, GAM will have as many as 3 sources of damage, but clearly, resources will not be sufficient. “Who will play support and accept to step back?” will be the question that GAM’s coaching staff must find a satisfactory answer to.

Of course, this deal may also be finalized soon. And fans can only hope that if Artemis puts on the VCS champion’s jersey, he will not follow in the “footsteps” of the predecessors from before.
