A “storm” awaits the former LCK champions after Worlds 2024
Since 2021, Gen.G has continuously made significant investments aimed at achieving titles. In reality, this team has dominated almost entirely in LCK and even secured an MSI title. However, at Worlds, things have not gone smoothly. Gen.G’s highest achievement remains only a semifinals finish. They even lost with a score of 1-3 against their “favorite” opponent T1. This is clearly unacceptable for the “superstar” team of LCK.

But the “disaster” only came after Worlds 2024. Accordingly, there are reports that Kiin and Lehends may leave to join the “Dream Team” Kwangdong Freecs next year. Canyon and Chovy’s contracts are also expiring, and Chovy himself is said to have unresolved issues regarding contract renewal with Gen.G. However, the LCK community also has news that makes Gen.G fans worried: Except for T1, all seven other teams in LCK will undergo roster changes next year.

Two Most Anticipated Players at Worlds Held Responsible
In Gen.G’s defeat, two players underperformed, especially in the two matches against FlyQuest and T1. Those players are Chovy and Peyz. It can be bluntly stated that if it weren’t for Kiin’s and Canyon’s brilliance, Gen.G might have faced a “bitter fruit” from the match against the LCS representative.

This is not the first Worlds for either Peyz and especially Chovy. However, the pair of players have repeated exactly what they showcased in previous seasons: a dull performance, unable to speak up when the team needed it, and only truly achieving something when the team had an advantage or teammates created space/the opponent was too weak. This does not embody the spirit of a championship-contending team, nor of players who will reach the highest throne in the League of Legends realm.

With the highest expectations, Gen.G has equipped their two core players with the best, and the result is disappointment. It can be said that the “storm” that Gen.G is preparing to face soon, the most anticipated pair of players must also bear some responsibility.
