Riot Accused of Using AI to Produce Arcane 2?
Last night (November 23), Riot officially released the final three episodes of the Arcane series, causing quite a stir in the international gaming community. Overall, the ending of Arcane 2 has generated mixed opinions. However, aside from the content issues and differing viewpoints, this installment from Riot is unexpectedly accused of using AI technology to create character designs, leaving viewers extremely upset.
Specifically, many viewers noticed that the poster for Arcane showed signs of AI intervention on Netflix. Originally, this poster was launched early to promote the second installment. However, when aired on Netflix, the original image was enhanced. The character Jinx’s hand detail appears unusually odd, with significant disproportion – a “tell-tale sign” often seen in non-human-created outputs.

Riot Admits Mistake, Apologizes to Arcane Fans
In response to the community’s concerns, Alex Shahmiri – brand manager of Arcane – has openly acknowledged the wrongdoing. He stated: “Riot has always adhered to a strict ‘no AI’ stance during the production of Arcane. The use of artificial intelligence is disrespectful to the hard work of artists. The erroneous images were promptly removed. Once again, thank you to the community for the reminder.”

However, many continue to express doubts regarding Alex Shahmiri’s statement. The reason is that the Riot representative only referred to the AI policy of Arcane, without mentioning other projects of Riot.
Regarding this issue, Alex Shahmiri shared that he could only comment on matters for which he is responsible. From a personal standpoint, he does not support the use of AI for art, music, or any other forms of creativity.
