Arcane-Inspired Skin Becomes “PC Destroyer”
With the release of Season 2, the series Arcane concluded with a complete and memorable ending featuring many characters. From themes of ideals and society to complex relationships between characters, Season 2 of Arcane addressed everything and left the audience highly satisfied. In fact, Riot Games has even created a massive film brand from this series for future exploitation.

Among the characters in Arcane, Ekko stands out with noble ideals, exceptional intelligence, and a touching love story with Powder. This has helped Ekko gain a huge fanbase and become a beloved character. However, the Arcane Ekko Ultimate Skin in League of Legends has been discovered to be a “PC destroyer.”

Specifically, the League of Legends community has discovered that using this skin along with multi-color effects and upgrading the ultimate ability causes a significant drop in in-game FPS. For powerful PCs, FPS can drop from 500 to just 200. However, according to community feedback, for weaker PCs that can only run League of Legends at 100 FPS, that number plummets to just 20 when upgrading the ultimate. Furthermore, many players have reported that their PC hardware is more prone to damage when the FPS drop occurs. This has led to Ekko’s Arcane skin being labeled a true “pay to lose” and has become a subject of ridicule within the community.

All Arcane Products from Riot Are Encountering Issues
Before Ekko’s skin, products like the rework of Viktor or the Arcane Jinx Shattered skin from Riot received many mixed reviews from the community. For Viktor, Riot revamped this champion’s appearance in League of Legends to be taller and leaner than before. However, this was met with backlash as it lost the essence of a character with grand ambitions to build his own empire like Viktor.

As for the Arcane Jinx Shattered skin, the price of up to 250 USD (around 6 million VND) to secure this skin is considered too high. Furthermore, instead of the usual chest accumulation method, Riot opted for a “gacha” system to obtain this skin, which further enraged players. Not to mention the quality of this skin has raised many questions, such as the lack of emotes, unique recall animations for shape-shifting forms, and Pentakill effects…

Fairly speaking, Arcane is a successful series, but the way Riot Games has constructed and marketed its merchandise has generated many mixed reviews. This is a significant lesson for Riot in introducing other products in the future. We hope that in the near future, Riot Games will find a way to fix the issues with the Arcane Ekko skin and help players no longer face significant disadvantages because of this skin.
