Overview of the Ekko – Zaun Composition in TFT Season 16

After the recent update, a slew of popular compositions in TFT Season 16 has vanished. However, in return, many new compositions are starting to gain traction, and one of them is Zaun with Ekko as the centerpiece. The 2-cost champion has transitioned from a “trait activator” to a significant source of damage. Not to mention, Ekko is a 2-cost champion, making it very easy to upgrade him to the highest star level.

The Ekko - Zaun composition is currently a hot meta after the latest update.

However, the Ekko – Zaun composition truly reaches its maximum strength when it includes 4 and 5-cost champions like Shyvana, Singed, or Ziggs. Therefore, players need to upgrade Ekko while also maintaining enough gold to upgrade and purchase champions as necessary, corresponding to each stage of the match.

Seraphine is also a strong damage dealer alongside Ekko.

Building the Ekko – Zaun Composition

In the early levels, players can easily acquire champions strong enough to both activate traits and overcome this phase. In fact, if lucky enough to obtain Technology Augments related to the Zaun trait, players can get champions like Ekko or Vi earlier. Although it’s essential to focus on upgrading Ekko, if possible, having champions like Vi or a 3-star Blitzcrank without incurring too many costs can be a significant advantage towards the end of the match.

Moving into the mid-game phase, players need to reach at least level 6 by Round 3. During this phase, players can temporarily stop upgrading their Spirit Beast and instead roll for champions to achieve a 3-star Ekko as well as important defensive units, such as Swain, Neeko, or Seraphine.

By the late game, this is when gamers need to roll as aggressively as possible and combine upgrading their Spirit Beast to level 9 or 10. This is also the decisive phase, and players need to finalize their composition to achieve the desired results.

Strengths and Weaknesses

This is a diverse composition with strong damage and defense, capable of maintaining a solid winning streak right from the beginning of the game. However, because Ekko – Zaun is a hot meta composition, there is a high chance of competition for the same champions. With low-cost champions like Ekko, the inability to upgrade to 3 stars and the need for many items can be obstacles to achieving a high rank in the top 4 as the match progresses to its conclusion.
