The Noble Title That Truly Places Faker Alongside 2 Other Korean “National Treasures”
Recently, on the afternoon of January 2nd (Vietnam time), Faker was personally awarded the Blue Dragon Medal of Sports Merit by the President of South Korea in recognition of his contributions to promoting Korean Esports globally. The Blue Dragon level is also the highest tier of this medal, and Faker is the first Esports athlete in the history of the Land of the Morning Calm to receive this prestigious title.

At the same time, the Medal of Merit also allows Faker to truly stand alongside two other “national treasures” of Korea, who are also extremely famous athletes that have become legends in their respective fields, namely Kim Yuna (figure skating) and Son Heung-min (football). Previously, Faker was already regarded as one of the top 5 “national treasures” of the Land of the Morning Calm. However, with this Medal of Merit, all controversies will come to an end.
Moreover, Faker receiving the Medal of Merit can be said to contribute to raising the status of Esports in South Korea in general and League of Legends in particular to new heights. Not to mention, even Faker’s fame and influence will reach another level. Throughout history, the number of athletes who have received the Medal of Merit is very limited. Apart from Faker, Son Heung-min, and Kim Yuna, only two other athletes, Park Chan-ho (baseball) and Park Seri (golf), have received it at the Blue Dragon level.

Faker Will Be Able to Further Enhance His Status and Influence in the Future
At this point, specifically in League of Legends, Faker has reached a level far superior to the rest, not only in the LCK but globally. As is well known, during the mid-season of the previous year, Faker extended his contract with T1 until 2029. With a remaining playing period of 4 years, Faker can certainly achieve many new accomplishments and elevate his status and influence even more, not limited to just League of Legends or Esports.
