The final matchday of the first round of the LCK Spring 2020 can be described as both a joyful and sad experience for T1 fans. The team suffered a 1-2 defeat against Afreeca Freecs, ending their six-game winning streak in the domestic league. However, today’s match also witnessed Faker making history in League of Legends as the first player from South Korea to reach 2000 kills in the LCK.
In the second game against Afreeca Freecs, the 2000 kill milestone in the LCK for the Demon King Faker was officially established, making him the first player in South Korea’s number one League of Legends tournament, and likely to be the only one to achieve this milestone (as many players in the top kill rankings have either retired, moved to other leagues, or have performance far behind Faker).

Of course, for Faker, whether or not he reaches 2000 kills doesn’t fully encapsulate his greatness. In reality, even before achieving this milestone, he was already the number one player in the LCK. However, the fact that T1’s captain has conquered the 2000 kill milestone will undoubtedly be a memorable moment for League of Legends fans worldwide as well as for Faker himself, as it can be seen as an undeniable mark of his legacy in the history of League of Legends.

It’s just unfortunate that Faker’s joy couldn’t be complete, as T1 allowed Afreeca to dominate both final games and were reversed with a score of 1-2. This loss also caused T1 to miss out on the opportunity to win the first round of the LCK Spring 2020, handing the championship to Gen.G Esports.
Furthermore, after today’s match, the LCK will enter an indefinite hiatus due to the impact of the Corona pandemic, and it will be a long time before we get to see Faker compete again.
