With a massive player base deeply passionate about the game, Teamfight Tactics Season 3 is receiving valuable feedback from gamers around the world. Recently, a streamer from Europe shared a series of his evaluations on the current state of Teamfight Tactics, and Riot has always welcomed such valuable opinions.

Even the lead designer of “auto chess” – Riot Mortdog responded that he agrees with most of this feedback and promises that there will be significant updates to Dark Star and Shadow, two traits that are facing some power issues.

Streamer ImsoFresh: “Hello Riot Mortdog, I have compiled all my opinions below.”
I really enjoy this season, but over the past few days, 80% of players are playing in a way that is too simple yet effective. I don’t even want to play Rebels anymore because I know at least 4 other people in the match will play this composition. My opinions:
Compositions with a combo of 6 champions are too strong (Rebels/Super Tech).
Leveling to 8 and rolling all your gold is too strong, a 7% chance of getting a 5-cost champion at level 8 is too much, and leveling to 9 has no meaning because other players buy up all the 5-cost champions from the pool.
Gangplank is too strong, Miss Fortune is the same, and getting Ekko is very difficult.
Dark Star is extremely useless (a 3-champion combo is strong, but a 6-champion combo is very annoying to play).
Shadow is also useless, the champions in this trait do not synergize and the effect is quite poor.
Jayce is too strong, getting a 2-star Jayce early is almost guaranteed to get top 1, and Pirates are also too strong.
The first common selection round is quite strange when 1-cost champions have no meaning if you don’t earn gold in the first or second monster round. Suddenly having a 3-cost champion at this stage creates a huge power disparity with other players.
The current meta makes Wooden Bow unpopular because late-game compositions deal too much damage, making Time Warp weaker and weaker.
Jhin is also dependent on certain items, could it be improved by increasing damage based on attack speed?
I have many more opinions, I hope these will help you upgrade Teamfight Tactics.”

Riot Mortdog: “Thank you for sharing, I agree with a lot on your list and we have been making changes for patch 10.7 based on that. As previously teased, Dark Star and Shadow will receive significant updates, and they will be tested early on the PBE server!”

With these insights from Riot Mortdog, Dark Star and Shadow are likely to be buffed significantly in the upcoming patch, simply because these two traits are lagging behind other compositions. Super Tech and Rebels are currently too popular due to their tremendous late-game power, and they only need one 5-cost champion to greatly increase their strength, making it understandable for them to be nerfed.

Perhaps reducing the amount of gold gained from early monster rounds and slowing down the game will lead players to focus more on late-game strong compositions, rather than trying to hyper-roll as much as in Season 2. Riot should consider nerfing the power of large combos directly, like 6 Rebels, 6 Super Tech, for instance.
