The new champion in League of Legends possesses extremely powerful skills
According to League of Legends tradition, during the Pre-Season phase, Riot will roll out significant updates that may include champion reworks, game mechanics, or the introduction of new champions. In the Pre-Season phase of 2025, Riot has introduced a new champion based on the Arcane series, namely Mel – the daughter of Ambessa, a champion that previously appeared in Summoner’s Rift.

However, just with a trailer clip showcasing one of Mel’s skills, the League of Legends community has been “stirred up” with intense debates. Specifically, Mel’s W ability (called Soul Mirror) will reflect any skill fired from opponents.
According to the clip, even skills that have special mechanics used exclusively for that champion, such as Urgot’s R or Draven’s Whirling Death, and Jinx’s Super Mega Death Rocket, will be reflected if they encounter Mel’s W. In fact, if two skills come at the same time, Mel’s W will reflect both skills.
The League of Legends community expresses total frustration
Clearly, Riot’s new champions are increasingly showing signs of being “overpowered”. Ambessa, which just launched at the end of 2024, already possesses a skill set that is no different from an upgraded version of K’Sante. Now, the champion Mel has a strong counter skill, but it’s only her W. This means that this skill has a very quick cooldown while being able to reflect almost all skills from League of Legends champions.

Not to mention, only a few champions have appeared in the trailer, and there are still many champions with powerful skills that nobody knows if Mel can counter or not. Therefore, the League of Legends community is also eagerly waiting to test their skills with this new champion soon, when Mel officially debuts in Summoner’s Rift.
