The Ancient Fear – Fiddlesticks is arguably the champion with the most horrifying comeback in League of Legends, as Riot Games even created an incredibly haunting trailer, incorporating easter eggs into the game along with a reworked skin that is equally eerie. However, the true power of Fiddlesticks is not as fearsome as it seems, evidenced by the abysmal win rate of this scarecrow, which is so low that the Riot champion designers are considering buffing him in the next patch.

Riot Squad5: “Fiddlesticks’ win rate is pretty much in line with what we predicted on day one, we need to take a closer look to conclude whether our prediction is correct or not.
Gamer: “He seems to lack damage without his ultimate.”
Riot Squad5: “If our findings indicate that Fiddlesticks needs a buff, then adding a bit of damage to his W ability seems reasonable.”

In most statistical sites for League of Legends, Fiddlesticks’ metrics are extremely poor. According to LoLalystic, this scarecrow has a win rate of only 41.57%, while data from U.gg shows an even worse rate of just 40.31%. Although his pick and ban rates are high (approximately 10% pick rate and around 60% ban rate), this is merely due to the rework effect; the champion remains quite “weak” despite the changes.

Despite being reworked, Fiddlesticks’ gameplay hasn’t fundamentally changed. This scarecrow will still “afk farm” until he reaches level 6, and if the lane is advantageous, he might sneak a Dragon with his W – Harvest ability. In the current meta, where aggressive jungle champions like Lee Sin and Rek’Sai are strong, Fiddlesticks has to farm as much as possible to hit level 6 to set up counter-ganks; before that point, he is virtually useless.

The inconsistency in Fiddlesticks’ champion design lies in the fact that he is a strong combat champion but relies heavily on teammates for setup. First, the lanes must have favorable minion positioning for him to move freely and choose a spot to use his ultimate, and then teammates need to be able to hold enemies in Crowstorm, or else this ability will go to waste.

All of the above is very difficult to realize in solo queue, at most only one or two lanes will cooperate. In summary, Fiddlesticks is the type of champion that relies heavily on teammates, which is extremely rare in solo queue. Perhaps this is the reason why Fiddlesticks’ win rate is so poor; simply put, teammates and even the players themselves still haven’t figured out how to properly utilize him.
