Debate Over Making Nexus Blitz a Permanent Mode – ‘Returning to Gather Dust Like Capture the Flag?’

A gamer has suggested that Nexus Blitz should become a permanent mode alongside traditional League of Legends, sparking controversy within the community.

Special modes in a game are always an essential spice to keep players engaged and connected to that game. For a game that has surpassed its 10th year like League of Legends, this is extremely important; many long-time players demand something new so they can explore fresh content while still feeling familiar with the game they are playing.

It’s no coincidence that in 2019, when special game modes were removed by Riot Games from events as they focused on developing Teamfight Tactics, they faced significant backlash. No matter how much you love League of Legends, playing the same game day in and day out can lead to burnout.

However, when Riot brought back special modes for events, players began asking for more; they wanted a mode that allowed them to choose champions freely rather than randomly like ARAM. The suggestion to make Nexus Blitz a permanent mode has sparked much debate on Reddit.

League of Legends Needs Permanent Modes Faster Than Teamfight Tactics

A mode where you can choose your desired champion like Capture the Flag or Nexus Blitz. I just saw that Riot announced they will bring the mode back, but only during events.

While I agree they should organize it first as an event mode to gauge player interest, it needs to become a permanent mode, not just announced once a year. Edit: People are asking if you know about ARAM? Yes, I know, but I’m saying it should allow champion selection, not random.

It’s quick, it’s fun, and then it’s gone. (The familiar response from HotshotGG, founder of CLG, when asked about Capture the Flag).

Oh, it’s been a while since I’ve seen him. How is HotshotGG doing lately?

And then people will completely abandon it like Capture the Flag, right?

Or like Nexus Blitz.

Or like the Twisted Treeline.

They could do a 3v3 version of the Twisted Treeline by removing everything above the mid lane of that Summoner’s Rift map.

The very old version of Twisted Treeline was my favorite mode. RIP.

Yeah, I’m feeling bored just playing ARAM now.

I’m an ARAM player and I get that feeling.

I play both, but I prefer ARAM because it has more fighting. It would be great to have something like ARAM where you can pick champions. I don’t really like Capture the Flag because it focuses too much on solo combat and strong duelists.

I also like ARAM, but honestly, champion selection in this mode is really bad. If it becomes a reality, you will only see about 20 champions being picked again and again.

ARAM may have been perfected already and shouldn’t be changed

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, the purpose of these special modes is to help players feel happy and explore something new in a game they’ve become familiar with like League of Legends. However, when playing too much of a specific mode, players will gradually find it boring as they have already experienced everything interesting. Therefore, bringing a special mode that allows champion selection into a permanent mode seems like a pretty bad idea.

Even URF can only return once a year or a few times

ARAM isn’t new, but its randomness ensures no game is alike; perhaps Riot’s current approach is the most sensible, with each event featuring a new mode lasting about a month. That duration is enough for players to explore and enjoy that mode without feeling bored.
