The Covid-19 pandemic and the social distancing period have inadvertently affected many low-income individuals. As buying and selling activities decreased, street vendors were hit particularly hard. Especially in certain professions like lottery ticket sales, where tickets will not be issued until at least April 15, they have nearly lost their primary source of income.
Amid this difficult time, the “Rice ATM” launched in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City has become a lifeline for the poor, allowing them to receive free rice from this unique ATM, helping to alleviate some difficulties during the pandemic.

The operation mechanism of the Rice ATM is quite simple: philanthropists bring rice to donate, while those in difficult circumstances, low-income individuals in need of support can just come and take the amount of rice they need.
Responding to the rice donation movement for the Rice ATM, recently, the Admin of the “Share with Challenge” group – a reputable League of Legends community group on Facebook, called on gamers to support the practical activity of the Rice ATM. He stated that he would donate 50 kg of rice and urged other members to contribute more to reach a total of 100 kg.

Thus, the group’s initial goal was just to call for an additional 50 kg of rice to contribute to the “Rice ATM”, but after receiving the call from the Admin team, many gamers and philanthropists enthusiastically participated in contributing, leading to the actual support amount exceeding expectations by dozens of times.
Specifically, according to the latest announcement from the Admin team of the “Share with Challenge” group, this community has mobilized up to 1.5 tons of rice, which is 30 times the initial expected amount. This rice is valued at over 20 million VND and will be donated to low-income families in two areas: Ho Chi Minh City and Kien Giang.

The Admin team also added that over the past two years (2018 – 2020), the “Share with Challenge” community has spent 94 million VND, including group funds and contributions from the gamer community, for charitable purposes.

It can be said that among thousands of Facebook groups, the “Share with Challenge” League of Legends community is the most organized community, and it is also where many gamers’ kind hearts have been witnessed in contributing and sharing for those in difficult situations, creating a positive image of gamers in the eyes of the community and society.
