Recently, Riot Games has continued to provide relatively “drip-feed” information about the Volibear rework project. To be honest, despite mentioning the reworking process of this champion’s abilities many times, the League of Legends community still cannot visualize the true form of the Freljord demigod in the future. All players can clearly feel is that the launch time of the reworked Volibear is approaching very soon.
Basically, Volibear’s playstyle still relies on old characteristics: he unexpectedly charges forward on all fours, demonstrating rage and bloodlust by lunging in to maul targets with his large claws and sharp fangs.

In the rework version, Riot will mainly focus on changes to the E ability and ultimate. The new skill set will give Volibear the ability to summon thunder, adding a bit of supernatural power that aligns with his lore.
Volibear’s new abilities include complex effect combinations that recreate weather effects combined with ancient Freljordian imagery. However, the Rioters have declined to disclose detailed information about the skill set.

Speaking more about Volibear’s new appearance, the 3D model of this champion has also been revealed. Overall, there isn’t much difference from the previous sketches, except that this demigod seems to have successfully lost some weight.

Riot Games has also revealed some details surrounding the rework of Volibear’s skins. The Arctic Volibear skin is one of the top priority products. Riot Games believes that this skin theme fits well with Volibear’s default lore, and the community’s love for this skin theme also motivates the creators of League of Legends to develop it further.

Additionally, the Rioters have also hinted at the creation of a new Volibear skin, and more importantly, this will be a product given for free to players who already own the old Volibear. Although the information about this skin has not been officially announced, it has been teased with a snapshot of a splash art angle.

It is likely that this is a dark-themed skin related to Volibear’s somewhat horror lore and inspired by the board game Eldritch Horror. In Riot Games’ history, only Gangplank and Miss Fortune have been favored with new skins upon their reworks.
Therefore, it can be said that the Volibear rework project is a top priority for the game company, and it is very likely to be accompanied by a series of massive in-game events, similar to the previous Fire Tide event.
