Comments from a TFT Expert – ‘Galactic Purple is a Failed Product of Season 3’

Despite being very successful, Teamfight Tactics Season 3 is still not a perfect product.

Teamfight Tactics Season 3 is running quite well with diverse and necessary counter compositions, ensuring that no team can be considered “invincible.” The item system appears balanced, the champions are visually appealing, and everything runs smoothly; it seemed like this would be a perfect season of “luck-based chess,” but no, there are still some flaws, and this time the faulty product from Riot is Galactic Purple.

In a post by a Western TFT expert, he sharply criticized this Galaxy, stating that the power of the 4-cost units is too disparate, leading to victories often being decided right after the first shared selection round.

I reached Grandmaster rank in Seasons 1 and 2, and I’ve been playing Season 3 for 3 days now (currently at Diamond 3), and I have to say I absolutely hate Galactic Purple. It’s just terrible. Anyone who gets Irelia has a complete advantage, similarly with Fizz, Jhin, and possibly Kayle too, who are all crucial champions in the current meta.

The result is that players are always forced to play around those champions, even if their items are sometimes extremely poor. Therefore, the remaining players have to choose between trying to build a meta comp, which is already competitive with those who got the strong champions, or forcing themselves to play a weaker comp to aim for top 4. Personally, I prefer to play around item builds, so I often choose the latter. What do you all think?

It really feels like gambling; if I have Fizz, Irelia, or Kayle, I can easily make it to top 4. Starting a game with weak champions like Wukong or Soraka feels like shooting myself in the foot.

I hope they will replace that Galaxy with something else to complete the item builds for 1-cost champions.

It will come in future patches, but only with bad items.

Indeed, Galactic Purple is just too bad and not fun at all.

If I have Fizz with a Super Robot item, Kayle with a Wooden Bow, or Jhin with a B.F. Sword/Glove, then I am already very strong. Otherwise, you can only play to survive and hope for a top 4 finish. Basically, this patch relies too much on the first shared selection round, and Galactic Purple relies on it too heavily.

Having Irelia after the shared selection round makes it very hard for you to be eliminated early

Perhaps Riot Games, when designing the Galactic Purple universe, forgot one important thing: not all 4-cost champions are equally strong. As mentioned in the complaints above, strong carries like Jhin, Irelia, and Kayle can carry the whole team early on due to their power being much greater than supportive units like Soraka or Wukong.

Seeing opponents with strong champions while you only have Soraka can be demoralizing for players

Basically, Galactic Purple is considered the least strategic Galaxy in Teamfight Tactics; you just need to pick strong champions in the early rounds to almost guarantee a win. No matter how well the opponent plays, if they have to use weak champions early, they cannot compete towards the end of the game due to taking too much damage beforehand. I hope Riot Games will find a way to adjust the 4-cost champions or, if possible, redesign this universe to make it more strategic, rather than having matches decided too early.
