Riot Games has always aimed to make its games as accessible as possible in order to attract as many new players as possible. This is why League of Legends has developed into the largest online game in the world; however, the downside of this is the creation of a segment of players that is extremely “toxic,” making the gaming experience for both new and old players in their team incredibly poor.

Especially during this complex pandemic period, many people are staying home and looking for entertainment through games like League of Legends. However, the aforementioned “toxic” players are making new gamers lose interest in this game. Recently, a new player posted something that made old players like us reconsider our communication in the game.

I just reached level 30 and played 5 ranked matches. I want to quit League of Legends already, help me!
The story is that a few weeks ago, my girlfriend introduced me to this lovely game. I often play Miss Fortune because that’s the champion she taught me to play, and every time the game starts, I usually watch where I need to help my jungler or where my team is invading before going back to my lane. I try to farm enough to get 1300 gold for a B.F. Sword and then return to lane. After 86 games and about 50,000 mastery points, I decided to play ranked to see where the game would place me.
I started yesterday and was truly shocked right during the game load when I realized there were players at levels 200/300 in Silver/Gold rank. I was cursed at so badly that I almost wanted to throw up, feeling completely useless.
The next 4 games were the same; I won 2 of them, but I felt entirely useless. In all 5 games, I was cursed at far too much, and I don’t blame them because I felt useless too. I just felt that cursing had become a skill that players must possess.
After playing those 5 ranked matches, I never want to play League of Legends again after seeing those players curse at me with the worst words. I watched some guides online and tried to play safe, but what made me not want to play the remaining 5 ranked matches was the attitude of the other players (after about 3000 hours of playing CS:GO, I can confirm the toxicity cannot compare to League of Legends). What should I do now? Change positions/go back to normals or keep trying?

/mute all (the command to block chat from all players), that’s the solution.
A simple mantra but quite difficult to solve.
Except that after the game, they continue to curse you in the game lobby.
Quit as soon as possible, don’t forget to chat “gg ez” to annoy them.
This is terrible; the matchmaking system often places new players in Silver IV instead of Iron. Then they will drop to Iron after losing continuously, making them feel even worse. You can do nothing during that process.
I advise you to block chat from all teammates and opponents; the community is not mature enough to use chat properly. This does not change regardless of rank; it’s best to block all chat.
A tip I suggest for new bot lane players is to try to hit level 2 before your opponent. This gives you a significant advantage; if you have a good support, you can get 1 or 2 kills. This makes the rest of the game much easier.

In-game chat is basically a tool for players to communicate with each other, enhancing teamwork in League of Legends. However, the toxic players mentioned above are making solo queue one of the worst experiences for gamers; those who are used to it no longer feel bothered, but newcomers cannot stand it, and as the guy shared, he does not want to play League of Legends anymore.

There is a saying that “one endures, nine are safe”; perhaps everyone in the game should reduce meaningless chatting, lessen the cursing a bit, which will make the community less toxic and more friendly. Perhaps nothing is more meaningless than arguing online, especially in a game where you only communicate with a few people for about half an hour.
