TheShy Faces a Storm of Criticism After LPL’s Announcement
After the first two weeks of LPL 2025 Split 1, IG has been a source of great disappointment as they painfully lost to NIP, a team considered weaker. What’s more concerning is IG’s lackluster gameplay in this match, where they failed to show much in both the laning phase and team fights. Thus, this disappointing debut match has put a lot of pressure on TheShy and his teammates, as they need to address numerous issues.

It seemed that the trouble would end with just a loss, but the LPL organizers recently issued an indirect statement that “hit” at IG’s pain from the match. Specifically, the LPL organizers announced that the Death’s Shroud is temporarily banned due to a bug causing it to deal much more damage than described. Particularly when used on K’Sante (after using his ultimate), the damage dealt from Death’s Shroud can even turn into an extremely high physical damage.

What’s noteworthy here is that IG’s only winning game against NIP prior was due to TheShy using K’Sante and building the Death’s Shroud first. Numerous situations in this match indicated that K’Sante’s damage became too “unrealistic” and helped TheShy gain significant advantages. Therefore, right after the announcement from the LPL organizers, a barrage of comments criticizing TheShy emerged as many believed he intentionally exploited this bug just to secure one victory against NIP and then suffered an overall defeat.

IG and TheShy Face Early Elimination Risk at LPL 2025 Split 1
Indeed, after this incident, IG’s painful loss against NIP appears even more “ugly” in the eyes of LPL viewers. Not stopping there, this defeat also puts IG in a difficult situation where they could be eliminated early and miss out on playing in the LPL 2025 Split 1 playoffs. If they continue to lose against RNG or further against FPX, this dark reality may unfold, severely impacting IG’s ambitions.

It is important to note that to recruit a “star-studded” roster like IG 2025, the team’s owners certainly had to invest a significant amount. Should IG continue to lose and face early elimination, it will clearly be a complete failure of a deal, leading to numerous negative repercussions for this team. Not to mention that the LPL tournament could also be affected (at least in terms of viewership) when IG’s stars play poorly. Perhaps IG fans can only hope that the star caliber of TheShy and his teammates will soon help the team overcome the current tough phase.
